Our Programme

The Cowal Choral Club has a long history of promoting the study and performance of choral and operatic music in Cowal. From our first stage performance of the Mikado at Dunoon Burgh Hall in 1946/7 to more ‘recent’ performances of The Messiah, The Armed Man, Guys and Dolls, Fiddler on the Roof and Beauty & the Beast, we have played to large audiences in Churches, The Burgh Hall, and the Queen's Hall (and received much critical acclaim).

Our club members are active in the local community, performing for pensioner groups, community groups, and at other community events.

Cowal Choral Club operates two annual performance programmes. One is focussed on the delivery of Music concerts, the other is focused on the delivery of Musical Theatre performances.  Many of our members participate in both. Our performance “season” currently operates from 01 August and continues until May 31st. We then ‘rest’ during June and July.

Musical Theatre Programme

Cowal Choral Club has performed Musical Theatre since 1947 with it's first performance of The Mikado!  Theatre performance in the Queens Hall began in 1958 with Merrie England, and we have performed in the Queens Hall each year ever since until 2015 when the Queens Hall closed for major renovation works. Then the CoVid pandemic of 2019-2022 caused further interruptions, but, in 2022 we returned to performing musical theatre in the Queens Hall.

Our annual programme delivers a performance each May and our theatre members enjoy a free Musical Theatre Masterclass Workshop in September.

Annual Music Programme

Cowal Choral Club loves singing!!

Originally established in 1937 as "Kirn Ladies Choir", after the introduction of men in 1942, Cowal Choral Club was formed.

Each December, Cowal Choral Club performs a two hour music concert to members of the public in the Dunoon Burgh Hall  Concert rehearsals begin in August and are held every Thursday evening from 7pm until 9.30pm

In addition, our singing members participate in free singing masterclasses, are invited to amazing settings to participate and deliver mini-concerts and performances for fundraising, and we invite members of the public and other choirs to participate in an annual Come and Sing event.

We welcome singers of all abilities, and hope to see you at rehearsals!
